Muktinath Bikas Bank celebrates 18th anniversary

KATHMANDU: Muktinath Bikas Bank Limited marked its 18th anniversary on Jan 3, 2025, with a series of events across Nepal.

The celebrations included a blood donation drive at the central office in Lazimpat, Kathmandu, and regional offices in Janakpur, Narayanghat, Dhading, Pokhara, Butwal, and Kohalpur, collecting 611 units of blood, which were handed over to local blood banks.

To promote environmental awareness, the bank organized a nationwide art competition titled “Art for Earth: Combating Climate Change” for students from grades 8 to 10.

A total of 476 students participated, with Julien Gurung winning the grand prize of Rs 50,000 and a certificate. Regional winners received Rs 10,000 each along with certificates.

The bank also honored three journalists with the “Muktinath Excellence in Agricultural Journalism Award” for their impactful contributions in agricultural research and reporting. Sagar Pariyar (Jumla), Kaushila Kunwar (Kathmandu), and Madhav Prasad Aryal (Palpa) received Rs 35,000, Rs 25,000, and Rs 15,000 respectively, along with certificates.

Extensive Community Initiatives

As part of its corporate social responsibility, the bank carried out various activities, including:

  • Scholarships for students in grades 11 and 12.
  • Establishment of libraries and support for infrastructure development in schools.
  • Distribution of warm clothing and stationery to students.
  • Support for environmental conservation and the Bagmati Cleaning Campaign.
  • Financial literacy programs and digital banking awareness initiatives.
  • Assistance to non-profit organizations and cultural development projects.
  • Donations of furniture and equipment to local government offices.

Central Program Highlights

The central program, held at the bank’s headquarters in Lazimpat, was inaugurated by Chair Bharat Raj Dhakal.

Umesh Kumar Acharya delivered the welcome speech, while CEO Pradyumna Pokharel presented the bank’s progress and achievements.

The event also featured the launch of the bank’s institutional anthem and recognition of 41 employees who completed 10 years of service.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Director Narayan Kumar Shrestha. Attendees included board members, shareholders, clients, and staff. The event was moderated by Manager Tej Bahadur Giri.
