Cause of Susmita Khadka’s death remains unclear, police investigating
Her body was discovered on Wednesday.
KATHMANDU: Susmita Khadka, who was found dead in a hotel in Pingalasthan, Kathmandu, still has the cause of her death under investigation.
Khadka had been staying at room 308 of Bagmati Hotel with Dev Bahadur Thapa, a resident of Okhaldhunga.
Her body was discovered on Wednesday.
Thapa, 23, who had been sharing the room with her, is currently on the run, prompting police suspicion of foul play.
Despite no visible injuries on Khadka’s body, the circumstances, including Thapa’s escape, have raised concerns.
The body has been sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj for post-mortem examination, but the report is yet to be received, delaying the determination of her cause of death.
According to investigators, Thapa fled the scene after locking the door from outside.
It has been revealed that Thapa had recently returned to Kathmandu from Japan on Dec 15 and was preparing to return there on Thursday.
The police have issued a notice to the Department of Immigration to block Thapa’s travel.
It has also come to light that Khadka herself was preparing to travel to Japan.
The investigation is ongoing.
