Scooter accident in Bhaktapur: Husband dead, wife critically injured

KATHMANDU: A scooter accident in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-2, Sanothimi, on Friday resulted in the death of the husband and serious injuries to his wife.
The accident occurred when the scooter, bearing registration number Ba. Pra. 02–028 Pa. 6610, lost control while traveling from Sanothimi to Magargaun.
The rider, 31-year-old Nishchal Prakashraj Bhandari of Dhyunchepakha, Sanothimi, succumbed to his injuries, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dhundiraj Nyaupane of the Bhaktapur District Police.
Bhandari’s wife, 28-year-old Puja Shrestha, who was riding pillion, sustained severe injuries and is undergoing treatment at Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu.
The body of the deceased has been sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, the scooter has been taken into custody by the Sanothimi Police Office, and investigations into the incident are underway, DSP Nyaupane added.
