KATHMANDU: At least two people have died, and 18 others have been injured after a small plane crashed into a commercial building in California.
The incident occurred near Fullerton Municipal Airport, about 40 kilometers southeast of Los Angeles, on Thursday, though the cause remains unclear.
According to the Fullerton Police Department on X, “The death of two individuals has been confirmed.”
Ten people were hospitalized, while eight others received treatment at the scene.
A police official told local station KTLA that investigators could not immediately confirm whether the victims were passengers aboard the plane or workers inside the building at the time of the crash.
Television footage showed a hole in the building’s roof and smoke rising from the site.
“We were terrified when we heard a loud crash as the plane hit the building, and then we started running out of the building,” Jerome Cruz, one of the eyewitnesses, told CBS News.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the plane was an RV-10, a small, four-seat, single-engine aircraft.
This crash follows another accident near Fullerton Airport in November, which resulted in two injuries.
