KATHMANDU: Health Minister Pradeep Paudel has acknowledged that while health insurance in Nepal has provided relief and benefits to the health sector, it remains poorly organized.

Speaking during the acceptance of a report submitted by the reform committee formed by the Ministry to improve the health insurance sector on Friday, he emphasized that the current insurance system has given some relief but does not meet the country’s needs.

He pointed out that partial benefits are insufficient, and for this reason, the Ministry has formed a task force to conduct a study on health insurance.

He stressed the importance of advancing health insurance in such a way that the targeted group can fully benefit from it.

Minister Paudel stated that the government is working on organizing the health insurance system.

He mentioned that the relevant documentation to organize Nepal’s insurance system has been received, and he expressed confidence that the report covers all necessary areas.

Paudel also noted that the report addresses the issue of ensuring funding when health insurance reaches five lakh beneficiaries.
