Foreign Minister Deuba pays tribute to Jimmy Carter

KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former US President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Jimmy Carter, offering heartfelt condolences.

On Friday, Minister Dr. Rana visited the US Embassy in Kathmandu to sign the condolence book placed in memory of the late President Carter.

On behalf of the people and government of Nepal, as well as herself, she extended tribute to Carter and expressed sympathy to his family.

Former US President and founder of the Carter Center, Jimmy Carter, passed away at the age of 100 on Dec 29.

Minister Dr. Rana, in her message, described Carter as a democratic leader and a true friend of Nepal.

In her condolence message, Minister Dr. Rana remarked, “Former President Carter was an exemplary figure in philanthropy, peace, and democracy.

His contributions as President of the United States and as the founder of the Carter Center to promote human rights and democratic values are widely admired.”

Recalling Carter’s visits to Nepal during the Constituent Assembly elections in 2007 and 2013, Minister Dr. Rana noted that the late President remained a steadfast friend and well-wisher of Nepal, consistently supporting peace and democracy in the country.
