Minister Dahal urges employees for effective implementation of policies
Minister Dahal urged the management of stalled projects and the speedy execution of new ones.
KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has directed employees to work efficiently in line with the government’s policies to achieve impactful results.
Speaking at the closing session of a two-day workshop on “Project Operation and Management” organized by the Department of Roads in Pokhara, the minister emphasized the need to accelerate development projects to achieve economic prosperity.
Minister Dahal urged the management of stalled projects and the speedy execution of new ones.
He encouraged employees to perform their duties with integrity, without fear of repercussions from any authority, and assured that the ministry would facilitate solutions to any policy-related issues.
“Since Nepal is still in its construction phase, it is crucial to focus on ensuring that newly built and existing structures are sustainable and safe,” Minister Dahal stated.
He further highlighted the importance of prioritizing projects based on necessity and utility, stressing the need for both quantitative and qualitative development.
The minister added, “The ministry is working actively to end the tendency of leaving projects incomplete for extended periods, and your cooperation is essential in this regard.”
Workshop and Key Takeaways
The workshop saw the participation of the ministry’s Secretary, Keshav Kumar Sharma, who instructed project and office heads to maintain detailed records, organize systematic archives, and work diligently on-site. He also emphasized resolving audit irregularities to ensure smooth execution.
Key speakers, including Director General of the Department of Roads Ram Hari Pokhrel, Deputy Director General Umesh Bindu Shrestha, and other officials, presented concept papers on various aspects of project management.
Seventeen-Point Commitment and Directives
The workshop concluded with the adoption of a seventeen-point commitment and directives aimed at enhancing performance. These directives include:
- Increased on-site engagement.
- Streamlined record-keeping systems.
- Regular submission of performance reports to the department.
- Accelerating the management of stalled projects.
- Ensuring consistent monitoring of ongoing projects.
Minister Dahal emphasized the effective implementation of these commitments and urged all employees to align their efforts accordingly.
Secretary Sharma stated that the ministry would evaluate the execution of these directives and use the results as a basis for rewards and penalties.
Director General Pokhrel announced plans to conduct similar workshops in other regions of the country to further enhance the efficiency of employees.
