Public Accounts Committee Chair removes personal secretary

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee, Rishikesh Pokharel, has dismissed his personal secretary, Anil Kumar Pokharel, over allegations of financial irregularities.

According to Secretariat spokesperson Ekram Giri, the letter regarding the dismissal was sent on Friday.
Anil Kumar Pokharel allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 38.3 million from a Saptari-based individual, promising to secure his daughter’s admission into an MBBS program by manipulating entrance exam results.
However, when the admission failed to materialize, the father exposed the incident.
Following these allegations, the High Court in Biratnagar issued an order to the Morang Police to investigate the case.
The directive was authenticated on Dec 26.
