KATHMANDU: A series of incidents unfolded across Nepal on Friday, with arrests, accidents, destructive fires, and a robbery.
From a rape arrest in Rukum East to a fatal hit-and-run in Saptari, and fires in Kathmandu causing significant damage, the day was marked by varying incidents.
Meanwhile, a robbery in Jhapa resulted in a major loss of valuables.
Authorities are actively investigating all cases.
Rukum East: 29-Year-Old Man Arrested for Rape
A 29-year-old man, Surje Roka Magar of Bhume Rural Municipality-7, was arrested by police on Friday morning on charges of raping a 32-year-old woman.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday morning, with the victim filing a complaint. Police from the District Police Office, Rukum East, conducted the arrest and are continuing investigations.
Saptari: Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident
A 60-year-old man, Ram Bahadur Nepal, died on Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Laxmipur, Surunga Municipality-3.
The vehicle’s driver and registration details remain unknown, and authorities are actively searching for the driver while investigating the incident.
Chitwan: Elderly Woman Found Dead at Home
In Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1, 70-year-old Bas Maya Shrestha was found dead at her residence on Thursday. Police are investigating the cause of death.
Myagdi: Young Man Found Dead Near Cliff
A 21-year-old man, Aklesh Kumar Das from Bihar, India, was found dead near a cliff in Labli Hill, Beni Municipality-2, on Thursday. Authorities are investigating the cause of his death.
Kathmandu: Two Fires Cause Damage
A fire broke out at the Kanchanjanga Coffee Company in Kathmandu’s Durbar Marg on Thursday evening, causing undetermined damage.
Additionally, a fire in a vegetable market at the Dungedhara Mini Market in Banasthali, Kathmandu, on Friday morning destroyed a shop, vegetables, spices, and a motorcycle, resulting in damages worth approximately Rs 800,000. Local residents and firefighters helped control the blaze, and investigations are ongoing.
Jhapa: Robbery Worth Rs 1.04 Million
A robbery occurred at the home of 58-year-old Shekhar Subedi in Arjundhara Municipality-9, where two gold bangles (3 tolas) and other valuables totaling Rs 1.04 million were stolen on Thursday afternoon.
Police are searching for the suspects involved and continuing their investigation.
