Rape case in Baitadi surfaces after 6 months
The accused, 26-year-old Arjun Singh Dhami, reportedly raped the woman on the night of July 1 and subsequently fled.
KATHMANDU: An incident of rape involving a 24-year-old woman in Sigash Rural Municipality, Baitadi district, has come to light six months after it occurred.
The crime surfaced after the victim was found to be pregnant.
The accused, 26-year-old Arjun Singh Dhami, reportedly raped the woman on the night of July 1 and subsequently fled.
The incident was revealed after the victim recently filed a formal complaint at the Patan Area Police Office.
Following the complaint, it was discovered that the victim was six months pregnant.
She is currently under protection at a women’s safe shelter in Patan.
The victim’s husband, who was working in India at the time, has returned home after learning about the incident.
District Police Office spokesperson, Inspector Balram Pandey, stated that an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
