Two held in Nawalparasi for brutally killing dogs

KATHMANDU: Nawalparasi police have arrested two individuals after a viral Facebook video showed them brutally killing five puppies and a mother dog.
The arrested, identified as Rajkumar Saru Magar (33) and Aman Kumar Chidi Magar (28) from Susta Rural Municipality-5, Belwani, were taken into custody following public outrage.
The video, filmed near Narayani River at Thandighat’s 5th Thokkar area on Dec 28, showed the men carrying out the act and sharing it on social media.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramesh Bohara stated that the act violated the Animal Welfare section of the Criminal Code, prompting immediate action.
The two suspects are being held for further investigation under a seven-day judicial remand issued by the Parasi District Court.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with calls for strict punishment against such cruelty.
