KATHMANDU: Nepal’s national cricket team all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee will miss the upcoming Jai Trophy Men’s Elite Cup, set to begin next week.

Dipendra is scheduled to leave for the UAE on Friday to participate in the International League T20 (ILT20), which starts on Jan 11.

“I’ll be traveling on Jan 3. Last time, I couldn’t get a chance to play, but I’m optimistic about this season,” said Dipendra. “I performed well in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) and aim to deliver strong performances there as well.”

Dipendra, who captains the Nepal Police Club in domestic tournaments, has been retained by defending champions Gulf Giants for this year’s ILT20.

In the previous season, Dipendra was brought into the Gulf Giants squad as a replacement for Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus.

Despite the team winning the championship, he did not get an opportunity to play in any matches.

This season, Dipendra will be joined in the ILT20 by fellow Nepali all-rounder Kushal Malla, who has been signed by the Desert Vipers.
