Man detained with undisclosed Indian currency

KATHMANDU: A 28-year-old man was apprehended on Dec 28 with INR 500,000 at the Gaddachauki border area in Bhimdatta Municipality-10, Kanchanpur.

The detainee, identified as Nawaraj Jaishi of Ward-6, Aithpur, was intercepted by the APF’s proposed Border Security Post, Gaddachauki, while entering Nepal from India.

Jaishi failed to provide a valid source for the currency, which consisted of 1,000 Indian banknotes in 500-rupee denominations.

Both the individual and the confiscated currency have been handed over to the Revenue Leakage Control Office in Kohalpur for necessary action.
