Helicopter with 5 foreigners makes emergency landing after bird strike

KATHMANDU: A helicopter from Heli Everest, carrying five foreign passengers from Lukla to Kathmandu, made an emergency landing in Sanga, on the border between Bhaktapur and Kavre, after colliding with a bird flying in the opposite direction.

According to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, the helicopter carried five American citizens.

The incident, which occurred at 11 AM, led to Heli Everest dropping off the passengers there, and they were later transported to Kathmandu by road.

Sherpa added that the helicopter, with the call sign Alpha Kilo Gulf, was inspected by technicians before it was allowed to fly back to Kathmandu.
