GIBL celebrates 18th anniversary with scholarship program for underprivileged girls
Marking the completion of 18 years since its establishment, the bank will enter its 19th year on Thursday, Jan 2.
KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank Limited (GIBL), on the occasion of its 18th anniversary, has announced the continuation of its scholarship program under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Marking the completion of 18 years since its establishment, the bank will enter its 19th year on Thursday, Jan 2.
As part of the Global IME Scholarship Program for Girls, the bank has provided scholarships to 35 underprivileged but talented girls who have passed grade six from various community and government schools and are now enrolled in grade seven.
The bank has pledged to support these students annually with scholarships until they complete their studies up to grade 12.
Under this program, the bank selects five deserving students from each of the seven provinces, totaling 35 students, and provides them with an annual scholarship of Rs 12,000.
To date, the program has benefitted 140 students, significantly contributing to enhancing the educational standards of underprivileged girls, the bank stated.
Highlighting the importance of education in societal development, the bank emphasized that educated women play a vital role in raising awareness and improving the economic empowerment of society.
Hence, the program aims to ensure that girls facing financial hardships can complete their basic schooling without interruption.
Global IME Bank reiterated its commitment to supporting various social initiatives under its CSR, with education being a key focus area.
