Rabi claims innocence against charges in indictment

KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, the President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and suspended Member of Parliament, will continue recording his statement today in a case filed against him.

According to court official Suraj Adhikari, the hearing, which lasted for two hours yesterday, will resume today.
Following the statement, the court bench will decide whether Lamichhane and others involved will be released on bail, granted a general date, or sent to judicial custody for further investigation.
The Office of the District Attorney, Kaski, filed a case on Sunday against Lamichhane, Chhabilal Joshi, and 42 others, accusing them of cooperative fraud.
Of the accused, five individuals are listed only for the purpose of asset seizure based on the estimated fraud amount.
The charges against Lamichhane include organized crime, cooperative fraud, and money laundering.
The government registered the case on the 92nd day of Lamichhane’s arrest.
