KATHMANDU: Public Health Inspector Dharmaraj Khatri has died in a motorbike collision while on his way to attend a training program in Dhangadhi.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening near Laxmi Nursery in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-3.

According to the police, two motorbikes collided at around 6:30 PM. Khatri, who served at Chuthi Health Post in Bajura’s Badimalika Municipality-7, was riding pillion on a bike driven by 25-year-old Puran Shah of Dhangadhi-5.

The accident happened when another motorbike, operated by 25-year-old Sharmila Thapa of Shikhar Municipality-11, Doti, rear-ended Shah’s motorbike.

Thapa’s vehicle had the license plate Sudurpaschim 0100711Pa, while Shah’s bike carried the plate Sudurpaschim 012Pa 9416.

The collision left Shah with injuries to his abdomen and mouth, while Khatri sustained severe head injuries.

Khatri was rushed to Seti Provincial Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Following the accident, police have taken the motorbike operator Sharmila Thapa into custody for further investigation.
