Weather department predicts rain & snowfall across Nepal

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast Division has announced the possibility of rain and snowfall in most parts of the country starting this evening.

According to the department, the western low-pressure system is expected to cause partial to moderate cloud cover in many areas of Nepal from tonight.

Light snowfall is forecasted in the high hills and mountainous regions of Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces from Friday afternoon until Saturday.

Similar conditions are expected in a few areas of high-altitude regions in other provinces.

Additionally, light rainfall is anticipated in Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and Lumbini provinces.

The department has also indicated a likelihood of light rainfall in most parts of the country on Saturday.

“Rain, snowfall, and cold temperatures may impact daily life, health, mountaineering activities, and air transport. The division urges everyone to take necessary precautions and prepare accordingly,” the department stated in its latest bulletin.
