KATHMANDU: Police have arrested and presented three individuals involved in the gang rape of a 23-year-old woman in Morang.
The suspects include Mohammad Ramjan (19) and Sonu Kumar Sah (19), both residents of Katari-2, and Mohammad Guljar (19) from Araria district, India.
The victim was discovered unconscious on Tuesday afternoon in Katari-2, with her hands and feet tied.
Following medical examination and her initial statement, authorities confirmed the assault.
According to Morang Police, the victim was attacked while out for a morning walk.
After the rape, the perpetrators bound her limbs and gagged her before abandoning her in a semi-conscious state.
Further investigation revealed that Ramjan committed the rape, while the other two suspects assisted in restraining the victim.
Police have charged the trio with abduction, attempted murder, and rape.
The Morang District Court in Biratnagar has extended their remand for additional investigation.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about women’s safety, with authorities urging strict action against those responsible.
