KATHMANDU: A Sichuan Airlines flight from Chengdu landed at Pokhara International Airport with 126 passengers.

The flight brought a Chinese delegation to participate in the second international Dragon Boat Race, which will be held on Dec 29-30, at Phewa Lake.

The event is organized by the Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Chinese Embassy, and the Dragon Boat Association.

This follows the first-ever Dragon Boat Festival in Nepal, held in 2023 under the leadership of the Chinese government.

The Pokhara Airport, which opened on Jan 1, is marking its second anniversary.

However, regular international flights have not yet been launched from the airport.

Despite this, charter flights are providing some hope, with Sichuan Airlines operating its third charter flight.

Previously, seven charter flights and three other international flights have been completed from China, Bhutan, and India.
