Rabi Lamichhane presented in court, statement awaited

KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, the president of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), currently in Kaski police custody, has been taken to Kaski District Court to record his statement in cases related to cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.
Alongside Lamichhane, former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, Leela Pachaai, and Ram Bahadur Khanal, also in custody, were presented at the court.
According to the court, Chhabilal Joshi’s statement has been completed, and Leela Pachaai is currently being questioned. Lamichhane’s statement will follow.
The accusations stem from financial irregularities at Pokhara’s Suryadarshan Cooperative.
After the police submitted their investigation report to the District Government Attorney’s Office, the office filed charges in court last Friday and Sunday.
The cooperative is accused of misappropriating Rs 1.51 billion, with a total of 63 defendants, including individuals and companies.
