KATHMANDU: Dhanusha police have uncovered the body of a woman who was murdered and buried in Mithila Municipality-3, Hariharpur.

The victim, identified as approximately 50-year-old Reshami Devi Bin, was found buried behind her house.

According to Inspector Sonu Sah of the Sakhuwa Mahendranagar Area Police Office, the body was exhumed on Wednesday evening around 7 PM from a pit near the house’s toilet.

The victim’s husband, Dashaiya Mukhiya Bin, has been arrested on suspicion of committing the crime.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Dashaiya, under the influence of alcohol, killed his wife during a domestic dispute and buried her body to hide the crime.

Police revealed that the couple frequently quarreled, and their arguments had intensified on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim’s daughter-in-law told authorities that when she inquired about her mother-in-law’s whereabouts later in the evening, Dashaiya admitted to killing her and disposing of the body behind the house.

Upon receiving the family’s report, police arrived at the scene, dug up the area, and discovered the buried body.

The remains have been sent to Provincial Hospital in Janakpur for post-mortem examination.

Further investigations into the case are underway.
