NAAMII to host 5th Annual Nepal AI School from Dec 27
The fifth edition of this flagship event this year is focused on the foundations and applications of artificial intelligence and is being held from Dec 27, 2024, to Jan 6, 2025.
KATHMANDU: Nepal Applied Mathematics and Informatics Institute (NAAMII) has on Wednesday announced to host the Annual Nepal AI School (ANAIS), an 11-day academic program.
The fifth edition of this flagship event this year is focused on the foundations and applications of artificial intelligence and is being held from Dec 27, 2024, to Jan 6, 2025.
The ANAIS is a unique platform in South Asia that brings together scientists, faculties, and participants for intensive AI lectures, labs, and project works from all over the world.
The course covers depth from fundamentals to a wide range of applications and domains, including the frontier of recently developed ideas and methods, according to NAAMII.
Being hosted at Premier International School, Khumaltar, a total of 200 computer sciences Bachelor, Master, and PhD students as well as professionals working in the area of artificial intelligence (AI) from Nepal and beyond can enroll for this course. This is the fifth edition of the event. Over the past 4 editions more than 550 students from 40+ countries have attended the AI School.
With the theme “Bigger things can happen from small places,” the AI School aims to give exposure to Nepali as well as international students and AI professionals to the cutting-edge developments that are happening at the global level.
A total of 25 international scientists as well as professors with a huge level of experience and contribution in the AI sector will conduct physical classes on three major areas, Geometric Deep Learning, Foundational Models and Application, and Modern Practices.
According to Bishesh Khanal, Director of NAAMII, the event provides a platform for participants to share knowledge, ideas, and innovations in the field, and it is an excellent opportunity for attendees to network and collaborate with one another.
“We are at a pivotal moment in Nepal’s journey toward embracing artificial intelligence, as the government drafts its AI policy and releases a concept paper outlining the scope of AI implementation in the country,” he says, “In this dynamic context, we are hopeful to stir necessary discussions and create required expertise in Nepal through ANAIS.
Over its past four editions, the school has attracted more than 550 participants from over 40 countries.
Alok Khatri, Head of Education Outreach, NAAMII claims that the Annual Nepal AI School offers more than just education—it is an immersive experience.
“Over 11 intensive days in each edition, attendees have the chance to learn from world-class experts, participate in practical workshops, and expand their professional networks,” he says, “This has transformed the event into a true festival of AI education and innovation in the region.”
NAAMII has collaborated with F1Soft, eSewa, fonepay, UK International Development, The Asia Foundation, and Data for Development in Nepal to conduct the event this year.
Additionally, Young Innovations, SecurityPal, Google, and Fusemachines have also been primary supporters of this event.
