‘Sakkigoni’ team’s movie ‘Laaj Sharam’ sells international rights

KATHMANDU: The much-anticipated Nepali movie Laaj Sharam, produced by the popular Sakkigoni team, has sold its international distribution rights.

Slated for release on Feb 26, coinciding with Shivaratri, the movie’s international rights, excluding India, have been acquired by Seven Seas International.

On Tuesday, Arjun Ghimire, popularly known as ‘Paade,’ from the production house JPT Creation, and distributor Patrick Subedi from Seven Seas International, signed the agreement.

Under the agreement, Laaj Sharam will be released internationally in two phases. According to distributor Patrick Subedi, the movie is scheduled to be showcased in various countries on Feb 28 and March 7.

Detailed information about the countries will be announced soon.

In Nepal, the distribution responsibility has been undertaken by Bankates Entertainment. Directed by Kumar Kattel ‘Jigri,’ the movie is a significant project by the Sakkigoni team and is highly awaited by audiences.

Praised for its storyline, direction, and presentation, Laj Sharam is being described as a milestone in the Nepali film industry.

It is expected to perform well in both domestic and international markets.

The film features a stellar cast, including Bijay Baral, Mukunda Shrestha, Mahesh Tripathi, Arpan Thapa, Renu Yogi, and Bijay Lama, along with the Sakkigo Ni team: Arjun Ghimire (Pandey), Sagar Lamsal (Bale), Harish Niraula (Cockroach), Priyana Acharya (Munni), and Kamalmani Nepal (Khupi’s father).

Produced by Naveen Shrestha, the film is co-produced by Ram Naresh Shah and Srijana Khadka, with Sudip Baral serving as the cinematographer.

As the release date nears, the promotional campaign for Laaj Sharam has intensified. There is growing excitement among audiences to see how the movie will resonate with viewers.
