Man held with Chinese pistol & ammunition in Sunsari

KATHMANDU: Sunsari police have apprehended a man in possession of a Chinese pistol and ammunition.
The arrest took place on Friday evening at Mansuri Chowk in Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-2.

According to Sunsari District Police spokesperson, DSP Ram Prasad Timalsina, the arrested individual has been identified as 38-year-old Shamsher Alam of Bhokraha-2.
Based on a tip-off about illegal firearms being hidden at a local residence, the police raided the house of Khursit Ansari, where the pistol and ammunition were discovered.
The seizure included one large Chinese pistol, one magazine compatible with the pistol, and two rounds of bullets.
While Alam has been taken into custody, house owner Ansari is currently on the run, and police have intensified efforts to locate him.
Alam will face legal proceedings under the Arms and Ammunition Act of the Criminal Code 2017.
Police have initiated the process of extending his detention for further investigation.
Following the intelligence regarding illegal weapons, authorities have increased surveillance in the area to curb such activities.
