Surya Nepal Eastern Open tees off in Dharan

KATHMANDU: The much-awaited third event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2024-25, the Surya Nepal Eastern Open, is set to commence on Wednesday, Dec 25, 2024, at the picturesque Dharan Golf Club the jewel of the Koshi Province.
Sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd., the 54-hole tournament will unfold over three days and boasts a total prize purse of Rs. 882,000.
The winner will walk away with a handsome prize of Rs. 150,000, while the runner-up will claim Rs. 100,000. The third-place finisher will secure Rs. 75,000, and players finishing in the top 21 will also earn their share of the prize money.
The event will conclude with a Pro-Am tournament on Saturday, Dec 28, 2024, where amateur golfers will have the opportunity to team up with the professionals for an exciting format.
A total of 29 professional golfers and 26 amateurs (handicap of 5 or below) will compete in the tournament. Among the top contenders vying for glory are Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Dinesh Prajapati, Jayaram Shrestha, Niraj Tamang, Sanjay Lama, and Dhana Thapa.
A cut will be applied after 36 holes of play, with the top 21 professionals and amateurs making the cut advancing to the final round of 18 holes.
The Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2024-25 features a total of eight tournaments, offering a combined prize pool of Rs. 6.732 million for the season.
