Dharahara collects Rs 5.5 million in ticket sales one month after reopening
The Dharahara is being operated and managed under the directives of the Special Structure Operation and Management Development Committee formed in 2021.
KATHMANDU: One month has passed since the reopening of the Dharahara Tower, which is now operating with an entry fee. During this period, a total of Rs 5.5 million has been collected in ticket sales.
Since the tower was opened to the public on Nov 24 with an entry fee, the revenue has accumulated up until yesterday, Monday.
According to Kamau Project Director Prakash Aryal, the tower is closed every Wednesday, and on other days, around 1,200 visitors climb the tower daily. “Since Nov 24 , more than 31,000 people have visited the Dharahara, excluding children under 12,” he said.
“The tower is open from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM. In a short period, we have seen significant public interest.” Recently, tourists from neighboring countries have also started visiting the Dharahara.
The entry fee for the Dharahara is Rs 200 per person. Discounts of 50% are available for students, senior citizens, children, and people with disabilities. Tourists from SAARC countries pay Rs 500, while those from non-SAARC countries pay Rs 1,000.

On Nov 21, the Cabinet approved the opening of the tower and the fee structure.
Parking fees have been set at Rs 20 per hour for four-wheeled vehicles and NPR 10 for two-wheeled vehicles. The entry fee to the Dharahara premises is Rs 50.
Advertising for national-level campaigns on the Dharahara pillar has been set at Rs 5,000 per hour.
For commercial video shoots, the fee is Rs 5,000 per hour, and for photography, it is Rs 1,000 per hour.
