KATHMANDU: A Ramayana Conclave has been successfully held in Janakpurdham with the aim of strengthening the cultural ties between Nepal and India.
As mentioned in the Hindu scripture Ramayana, during the Treta Yuga, Ram, the son of King Dasharath of Ayodhya, and Sita, the daughter of King Janak of Mithila, were married.
Based on this relationship, there is still a cultural connection between Janakpur Dhama and Ayodhya today.
To renew and further strengthen this bond, an international two-day Ramayana Conclave was organized.
The event was jointly organized by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department of India, the International Ramayana and Vedic Research Institute, Ayodhya (Department of Culture, Uttar Pradesh), the Janaki Temple of Janakpur Dhama, and the Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City.
During the first session of the Ramayana Conclave, discussions on the cultural ties dating back to the Ramayana period were held.
Participants included Indian spiritual leaders such as Jagatguru Vidya Bhaskar Maharaj, Sant Sukhdev Das, Balak Das, as well as Nepalese religious leaders like Dr. Purushottam Acharya, Ramanand Maharaj, and Mahant Ramroshan Das Vaishnav, the successor of Janaki Temple.
