Nabil Bank hands over 96 temporary shelters in Jajarkot & Rukum West (video)

KATHMANDU: Nabil Bank has handed over 96 temporary shelters constructed in the earthquake-affected areas of Jajarkot and Rukum West.
In a special ceremony held today, Nabil Bank’s Chair, Upendra Prasad Poudyal, handed over the shelters to the mayors of Nalgad Municipality, Dambar Bahadur Rawat, and Chaurjahari Municipality, Pushpa Wadi.
The event was attended by Nabil Bank’s CEO, Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, board member Nirvana Chaudhary, and other senior officials.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Chair Poudyal reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to positively impacting society.
He emphasized that the project was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to assist those affected by natural disasters.
Under its CSR efforts, Nabil Bank constructed 47 shelters in Ward 1 of Nalgad Municipality, Jajarkot, and 49 in Ward 1 of Chaurjahari Municipality, Rukum West.
The bank provided essential construction materials, including corrugated sheets, bamboo, cement, paint, and other supplies, to build the shelters in partnership with local governments.

Both mayors, Rawat and Wadi, expressed their gratitude to Nabil Bank for providing secure temporary housing to the earthquake victims. They lauded the private sector’s role in supporting the government’s responsibilities and fulfilling social obligations.
The 6.4 magnitude earthquake, which struck on Nov 3, 2023, with its epicenter in Bamekot Rural Municipality, Jajarkot, caused extensive damage in Jajarkot and Rukum West.
In response, Nabil Bank pledged assistance worth Rs 10 million to support the affected communities.
The initiative included distributing immediate relief materials and constructing temporary shelters to help victims cope with the trauma, cold weather, and loss of family members and property.
Nabil Bank has consistently provided relief to disaster-affected communities as part of its CSR activities. The bank has reiterated its commitment to implementing programs that drive positive change in society in the future.
