KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Home Minister, has been charged in Kaski District Court.

The District Government Attorney’s Office filed a 427-page charge sheet accusing Lamichhane of cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.

The charges include a claim of Rs 278.9 million in money laundering and Rs 33.7 million in cooperative fraud.

A total of 44 individuals, including Lamichhane, have been named as defendants.

Lamichhane was arrested in Kathmandu on Kartik 2 (Oct 18) on allegations of misappropriating cooperative savings.

Investigations into similar charges in Kaski and other districts are ongoing.
