KATHMANDU: Defending champions Manchester City continued their poor form in the English Premier League (EPL), suffering a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.
The match, held at Villa Park, saw goals from John Duran and Morgan Rogers for the home side.
Phil Foden scored a consolation goal for City.
This marks a continued struggle for City, who have now won only one of their last 12 matches, with nine losses.
Aston Villa took the lead in the 16th minute through Duran’s goal. In the 65th minute, Rogers doubled Villa’s advantage. Foden pulled one back for City in injury time, but it wasn’t enough to secure a comeback.
With the win, Villa climbed to 5th place with 28 points from 17 games, while City dropped to 6th place with 27 points from the same number of matches.
Liverpool, having played 15 games, currently sits at the top of the table.
