KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala met with Sudurpaschim Province MP and former minister Om Bikram Bhat ‘Saral’ to discuss the region’s pressing issues.

During the meeting, MP Bhat briefed Dr. Koirala on the challenges faced by Sudurpaschim Province and urged him to take necessary initiatives for their resolution.

Highlighting the plight of earthquake victims in Bajura, Bhat criticized the federal and provincial governments for their irresponsible approach, which has left the victims without adequate relief. He requested Koirala to press the government to take immediate action.

Bhat also raised concerns over the stalled progress of the Dasharath Chand National Medical University, attributing the delay to internal party politics. He urged Koirala to play a decisive role in moving the project forward.

The discussion also touched on broader issues, including infrastructure development, education, health, and the dry port project in the region.

Following the meeting, Bhat shared a photograph with Koirala on Facebook, stating, “Welcoming senior Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala to Sudurpaschim and holding meaningful discussions on the region’s issues. Concerns over the Bajura earthquake, stalled medical university, and other developmental challenges were raised, seeking necessary intervention.”
