Rabi Lamichhane to face charges in Kaski district court
The District Government Attorney's Office, Kaski, has confirmed the filing of three charges against Lamichhane, including cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.
KATHMANDU: Kaski District Court is set to register a case against Rabi Lamichhane, Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Home Minister, on Sunday.
The District Government Attorney’s Office, Kaski, has confirmed the filing of three charges against Lamichhane, including cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.
Alongside Lamichhane, 51 individuals, including former Gorkha Media Network Managing Director Chhabilal Joshi Banjade, Leela Pachaai, Ram Bahadur Khanal, and Krishna Bahadur Gurung, are also accused.
All of them are currently in custody following supplementary complaints filed against them.
Lamichhane was arrested from his party’s central office in Banasthali on Oct 18 and has been in police custody for 65 days.
Earlier, on Friday, additional charges were filed against 19 individuals, including Gitendra Babu Rai (GB Rai), for embezzlement of funds from the Suryadarshan Savings and Credit Cooperative.
The investigation report submitted by Kaski Police to the government attorney’s office recommends recovering Rs 1.51 billion from the accused individuals.
