5.2 magnitude earthquake hits Bajura
No reported human casualties.
KATHMANDU: A 5.2 magnitude earthquake with its epicenter in Gotri, Jagannath Rural Municipality of eastern northern Bajura, struck early Saturday morning, causing panic but no reported human casualties, according to the District Administration Office.
Assistant Chief District Officer Rupak Mandal stated that assessments of physical damage are ongoing. “We have been collecting damage reports since morning,” he said. “Ward chairpersons of all municipalities have been asked for assistance. As per initial reports, there is no information on human casualties, but details of physical damage are being compiled.”
The Earthquake Measurement Center in Surkhet reported that the tremor occurred at 4:14 AM.
Following the quake, residents of the district headquarters, Martadi, rushed out of their homes.
The earthquake was also felt in neighboring districts, leaving residents fearful of aftershocks and increasing anxiety in the region.
