SC orders release of Durga Prasai

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court issued an order on Friday to release medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai.

The bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Sharanga Subedi directed Prasai’s release, according to Supreme Court spokesperson Achyut Koirala.

Prasai’s son, Nirajan Prasai, had filed a habeas corpus writ, arguing that his father was being detained unlawfully.

Durga Prasai was arrested by the police for allegedly spreading misinformation against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Although the court had previously ordered his release on bail, he was re-arrested on the grounds of another arrest warrant related to allegations of threatening a businessman.
