At the Dhangadhi airport, party workers gathered and raised slogans such as “Future President Shekhar Koirala Zindabad,” and “What does Far West say? We want Shekhar Koirala in the 15th General Convention!” The atmosphere was festive, with traditional Tharu cultural attire and dance performances. The traditional Hudkeli dance of the Far Western region was also showcased as part of the welcome ceremony.
The grand reception of Dr. Koirala, in the home province of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, has created a new wave of energy within the party.
According to local party members, the number of people attending Dr. Koirala’s welcome was higher than when President Deuba visited.
Many leaders and workers in Far Western Nepal are reportedly disillusioned with Chair Deuba’s leadership and are expressing a desire for new leadership within the party.

Dr. Koirala is scheduled to meet with party workers from nine districts of the region in Dhangadhi later in the day.
