KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has announced strict action against doctors who are unavailable during office hours.
Health Minister Pradip Paudel issued this directive following complaints received through the ministry’s grievance unit, Hello Swasthya 1115, regarding doctors’ absence during duty hours.
Minister Paudel instructed officials to enforce electronic attendance systems and ensure doctors are present to provide services.
He emphasized maintaining a logbook for any necessary departures during office hours.
In a letter sent to all hospitals, the ministry directed healthcare staff to remain in their workplaces during designated hours.
Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki stated that frequent complaints prompted this measure and assured regular monitoring to enforce compliance.
“Being present during service hours is everyone’s duty,” Dr. Budhathoki affirmed. “Those found negligent during inspections will face action.”
The ministry encouraged the public to report grievances through Hello Swasthya to ensure prompt resolution.
