Shekhar Koirala faction leaders in Dhangadhi

KATHMANDU: Leaders from the dissident faction of the Nepali Congress (NC), including Shekhar Koirala, have traveled to Sudurpashchim Province.
The group, which departed for Kailali’s Dhangadhi on Friday, includes lawmakers Hridayaram Thani, Sunil Sharma, and other leaders from Koirala’s faction.
Their visit is part of the preparations for the 15th NC General Assembly, with Koirala already announcing his intention to run for the position of party chair.
In advance of the congress, Koirala plans to meet with district chairpersons from across Sudurpashchim for discussions.
Koirala’s schedule includes individual meetings with the district chairs from Kanchanpur, Kailali, Doti, Bajhang, Dadeldhura, Achham, Darchula, and Bajura.
These meetings are set to take place between 1 PM and 5:30 PM on Friday.
On Saturday, Koirala will hold group meetings with affiliated organizations, scheduled for 8 AM.
He also plans to meet with supportive organizations on the same morning.
Koirala has emphasized the need to conduct the 15th General Assembly before Mangsir 2082, as per the party’s constitution, which mandates a congress every four years.
