KATHMANDU: The inaugural edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) has been in the spotlight since its beginning.
The participation of star players like Shikhar Dhawan from India, Martin Guptill from New Zealand, Jimmy Neesham, and Ravi Bopara from England added to the early excitement surrounding the league.
Midway through the league, the arrival of West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara further elevated the NPL’s profile.

Janakpur Bolts secured their place in the final by defeating Karnali Yaks by two wickets in the second qualifier on Thursday at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.
This victory ensured their match-up with Sudurpashchim Royals in the title clash.
Sudurpashchim Royals had previously defeated Janakpur in both the group stage and playoffs.
In the group stage, Sudurpashchim Royals triumphed by 72 runs, while in the playoffs, they won by eight wickets.
The upcoming final will be a rematch between the league’s top two teams.
The final is set to be especially significant, as Janakpur Bolts will have the opportunity for revenge against Sudurpashchim Royals, while Sudurpashchim Royals aims for a hat-trick of victories over their close rivals.
