KATHMANDU: Tara Prasad Pant, a resident of Sundarpur, Bedkot Municipality-9, has been missing for 54 days since he disappeared from Chame, Manang.
Pant, an employee at Nepal Bank Limited in Chame, went missing on Oct 26 while visiting a viewpoint with a colleague.
Pant, who holds a fourth-level position at the bank, had gone to see the viewpoint with fellow employee Arjun Khadka.
Khadka turned back midway due to difficulty climbing, while Pant continued alone. According to his family, Pant last communicated with Khadka at 4:45 PM that evening.
Attempts to reach him later were unsuccessful, and his phone rang until 10:45 PM before it was switched off.
Archana Budhathoki, another bank employee, informed Pant’s brother, Vishnu Datt Pant, about his disappearance at 11:00 PM on Oct 26.
Upon hearing the news, four family members rushed to Chame and joined police, armed forces, bank staff, and local traders in searching the area, but to no avail.
“We are still hopeful that he will return,” said Vishnu, expressing the family’s ongoing distress. Despite further searches, including a recent visit to Manang, they returned home disappointed.
Authorities conducted a 12-day search with the help of various security agencies.
Drones and helicopters were also deployed, but no trace of Pant was found. His phone’s last known location remained in Chame.
The family continues to hold onto hope as they await any news of Tara Prasad Pant’s whereabouts.
