IPPAN to celebrate Silver Jubilee on its 25th anniversary

KATHMANDU: The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) is set to celebrate its Silver Jubilee on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.
At a press conference held in Kathmandu on Thursday, IPPAN announced that the Silver Jubilee celebration will take place on Jan 17.
Speaking at the event, IPPAN General Secretary Balaram Khatri shared that the celebration will be held under the theme “Leading the Energy Prosperity.” He stated that the event aims to highlight the achievements and progress of private sector energy entrepreneurs, which include over 500 member companies.
Khatri emphasized IPPAN’s significant contribution to making Nepal free from load-shedding and transforming it into a net electricity-exporting country.
Out of the country’s total installed capacity of around 3,300 MW, the private sector contributes approximately 2,600 MW, representing nearly 80% of total power generation capacity.
The Silver Jubilee event will take place in Kathmandu and will feature various activities.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the Finance Minister, and the Energy Minister are expected to attend the celebration.
Additionally, the event will host interactions addressing local and federal energy challenges, opportunities, future roadmaps for the energy sector, and energy policy discussions.
