KATHMANDU: Minister of Health and Population (MoHP) Minister Pradeep Paudel has urged for an increase in Ayurvedic medicine production at the Singha Durbar-based Baidya Khana (Ayurvedic Medicine Center).

During an inspection of the Baidya Khana’s production facilities today, Minister Paudel told the employees, “There is a demand for Baidya Khana’s medicines in the market. Increase the production.”

Minister Paudel directed that suppliers who fail to provide necessary raw materials should be blacklisted and alternative options should be explored. He expressed concern that Ayurvedic medicines from Baidya Khana are not readily available in the market. “Why can’t we produce items that have demand in the market? We will ensure there is no shortage of budget, but production must be increased,” he stated.

After employees raised concerns about a lack of resources, Minister Paudel mentioned that the government had allocated a budget for the Baidya Khana some time ago.

He clarified that while the government can provide capital assistance to public institutions, it cannot cover recurring expenses like salaries.
