KATHMANDU: The ‘Natikaji National Music Award’ for the year has been announced, honoring ten distinguished artists and one music institution.

The awards were declared at an event organized by the Natikaji Memorial Society today.

Senior musician and Society President Shambhujeet Baskota announced that lyricist Nagendra Thapa, folk singer Bom Bahadur Karki, artist Dhan Lama, music promoter Prakash Sayami, classical musician Gyanuradha Gorkhali, lyricists Buddhabir Lama and Kiran KC (Krodhi), singer Diwakar Khadka, and singer Yashoda Parajuli will be honored with the Natikaji National Music Award.

Additionally, the Music Sadhana Institute (Ithari) and writer Bimal Bhaukaji will receive the Natikaji National Contribution Award.

The National Music Awards will also honor singer Himal Sagar, singer Bindu Pariyar, lyricist B. Pandey, music composer Ashish Aviral, and arranger Samrat Thapa.

Under the Natikaji National Talent category, recordist Bhola Paudel, singer David Shankar, singer Smita Dahal, and composer Kalyan Singh will receive awards, while Dr. Ramesh Pokharel will be recognized in the classical music category.

In the national folk music category, folk singers Ram Prasad Awasthi, Sushma Shahi Thakuri, and Krishna Bik will be honored. For contributions to arts and journalism, journalists Sushil Aryal and Sukrit Nepal will receive awards.

The awards ceremony will be held in celebration of Natikaji’s 99th birth anniversary, with the society recognizing his invaluable contributions to Nepali music.

President Baskota emphasized that Natikaji’s legacy continues to thrive through such efforts.
