KATHMANDU: Sudurpashchim Royals have secured a spot in the final of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) by defeating Janakpur Bolts by 8 wickets in the first qualifier today.
Chasing a target of 140 runs, Sudurpashchim Royals completed the task in 18.3 overs, losing just 2 wickets.
Opener Binod Bhandari led the charge with an unbeaten half-century, scoring 58 runs.
Saif Zaib contributed 32 runs, while Brandon McMullen added 25 runs. Captain Dipendra Singh Airee remained not out on 20.
In the bowling department, Lalit Rajbanshi and Kishore Mahto each took 1 wicket.
Earlier, Janakpur Bolts won the toss and chose to bat, setting a target of 139 runs after losing 9 wickets in their allotted overs. Jimmy Neesham top-scored for Janakpur with 45 runs, followed by Shub Kansakar with 26.
Lahiru Milintha and Harsh Thacker both scored 12 runs each, while Aasif Sheikh and Arniko Yadav made 11 runs each.
Mohammad Mohsin and Sher Mall contributed 3 runs each, and Aakash Tripathi remained not out on 4.
Sudurpashchim Royals’ captain, Dipendra Singh Airee, was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets.
Saif Zaib picked up 2 wickets, while Scott Kuggeleijn and Abhinash Bohara took 1 wicket each.
