We played with a fresh competition mindset – Sompal Kami
He noted that even after winning the toss, the team was determined to bat first.
KATHMANDU: Karnali Yaks captain, Sompal Kami, stated that his team is approaching the playoffs as an entirely new competition, leaving behind their past league performances and results.
Speaking at the post-match press conference after defeating Chitwan Rhinos, Sompal emphasized that regardless of previous performances, they are viewing the playoffs with a fresh perspective.
He noted that even after winning the toss, the team was determined to bat first.
He also revealed that due to inconsistent starts in their batting lineup, they decided to bring in Jaykishan Kolsawala as an alternative.
Sompal explained that Kolsawala, who is already familiar with Nepali cricket, had been in conversation with the team for a while.
Sompal praised Kolsawala for fulfilling his role effectively.
He highlighted that rather than focusing on individual player runs, the team prioritizes achieving a strong total on the board.
While they initially aimed for a target of 160 runs, he expressed satisfaction with their overall performance.
Sompal admitted that during the league stage, he was worried about whether his team would make it to the playoffs.
However, he credited the bowlers for their consistent efforts, which helped them reach this stage. Now, his sights are set on reaching the final.
