SC orders Durga Prasai to be presented before court
Prasai was arrested last Tuesday from his residence in Bhaktapur.
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has ordered that businessman Durga Prasai, who is currently in custody, be presented before the court.
The court issued this order in response to a habeas corpus petition, asking for an explanation from the government and directing that Prasai be brought before the court.
Following an extension of Prasai’s detention by the District Court, excluding charges related to cybercrime, his son, Nirajan Prasai, filed the habeas corpus petition.
Nirajan argued that his father was being held unlawfully.
Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma’s bench issued a show cause order to the government, directing them to present Durga Prasai along with an explanation.
Prasai was arrested last Tuesday from his residence in Bhaktapur.
He is currently under investigation for alleged cybercrime and other charges.
