KATHMANDU: In the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) second qualifier at TU Ground, Sudurpaschim Royals have been set a moderate target of 140 runs by Janakpur Bolts to secure a place in the final.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Janakpur managed 139/8 in their allotted 20 overs. James Neesham top-scored with 45 runs off 23 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes before being bowled by Scott Kuggeleijn.

Subh Kansakar added 26 runs off 24 balls before an unfortunate run-out due to a miscommunication with Harsh Thaker.

Lahiru Milantha, opening in the absence of regular captain Anil Shah, was dismissed for 12 runs off 14 balls, trapped LBW by Sudurpaschim captain Dipendra Singh Airee. Stand-in skipper Aasif Sheikh contributed 11 runs off 10 balls but was bowled by Saif Ali Zaib.

Harsh Thaker (12 runs) also fell to Saif Ali Zaib, while Araniko Yadav (11 runs) and Mohammad Mohsin (3 runs) were both dismissed LBW by Dipendra Singh Airee.

For Sudurpaschim, Dipendra Singh Airee took 3 wickets, Saif Ali Zaid claimed 2, while Abinash Bohara and Scott Kuggeleijn grabbed one each.

The winner of this match will advance to the final of the inaugural NPL.

The losing team will face Karnali Yaks, who won the eliminator, in the second qualifier on Thursday for another shot at the final.
