Unified Socialist reshuffles leadership roles, forms 24-member secretariat

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has reassigned responsibilities and reshuffled key leadership roles six months after completing its central general convention.
In a recent meeting of the party’s Standing Committee, a 24-member Central Secretariat was formed under the leadership of Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, according to Secretary Som Prasad Pandey.
Senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal has been appointed as the head of the School Department, while Beduram Bhusal has been given the role of Head of the Organization Department.
Pramesh Hamal now leads the Foreign Affairs Department, Ganesh Basnet heads the State Affairs Department, and Senior Vice Chairman Rajendra Pandey is in charge of the Front Department.
Vice Chairman Jagannath Khatiwada has been assigned as head of the Federal and Provincial Affairs Department.
Vice Chairman Prakash Jwala will lead the Publicity Department, Vice Chairman Jayanti Rai will oversee the All Nepal Women’s Association (Socialist), and Vice Chairman Bhanu Bhakta Joshi will serve as In-charge of Sudurpaschim Province.
Vice Chairman Dharmanath Prasad Sah has been tasked with leading Madhes Province, while Vice Chairman Gangalal Tuladhar will oversee Bagmati Province.
General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal has been assigned to monitoring duties. Deputy General Secretary Rajendra Rai will lead Koshi Province, and Deputy General Secretary Ram Kumar Bhattarai has been appointed as Office Secretary.
Garima Shah, another Deputy General Secretary, has been assigned as Parliamentary In-charge, while Vice Chairman Metmani Chaudhary will oversee Lumbini Province.
Additionally, Secretary Srinath Baral is now the In-charge of Gandaki Province, and Secretary Chandra Bahadur Shahi is responsible for Karnali Province.
Laxman KC has been assigned as the head of the Youth Department, while Ram Kumari Jhakri will lead the Student Department.
