KATHMANDU: Russia has initiated an investigation into a suspected terrorist attack after an explosion claimed the lives of a senior military officer and his aide.

The Russian Investigative Committee announced the investigation shortly after the incident.

Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Russian Armed Forces’ Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defense Troops, and his aide were killed in an explosion at a residential building in Moscow.

Authorities are treating the incident as a potential act of terrorism.
