KATHMANDU: The FIFA Best Awards 2024 took place in Qatar on Tuesday night, recognizing the world’s top football talents.

Brazil and Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior was named the Best Men’s Player, while Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmatí won the Best Women’s Player for the second consecutive year.

Bonmatí, 26, delivered stellar performances for both club and country in 2024. She was instrumental in Spain’s 2023 Women’s World Cup triumph.

Vinícius scored 24 goals in 39 appearances during the 2023–24 season, playing a crucial role in Real Madrid’s 15th UEFA Champions League title.

Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti won the Best Men’s Coach Award, while Emma Hayes, head coach of the US Women’s National Team, received the Best Women’s Coach Award.

The Best Goalkeeper Award went to Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez in the men’s category and Alyssa Naeher of the US in the women’s category.

The Puskás Award for the best goal was claimed by Marta of Orlando Pride in the women’s category and Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United in the men’s category.
